ZZ Leiden is ready for the playoffs and has received individual awards at the BNXT Awards 2022. Star player Worthy de Jong, coach Geert Hammink, and Asbjørn Midtgaard received personal awards. The South Hollanders completed the regular season excellently and are preparing for the playoffs. ZZ Leiden still has a chance to win two titles. The Leiden team completed the last game of the season in style, defeating Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen 84-67. The win was their third in a row. Earlier this season, Hammink's team had to acknowledge their superiority in Mechelen during the away game. In the Sleutelstad, everything went well on Saturday. At halftime, ZZ Leiden already had a small lead: 42-38. Especially in the third quarter, Jhonathan Dunn and Asbjørn Midtgaard stood out, and with ten minutes to go, a comfortable 61-53 score was on the board. In the fourth quarter, two three-pointers from Arunas Mikalauskas helped the home team to a convincing 84-67 victory. In total, the 'small forward' scored 21 points. The BNXT Awards 2022 were presented, and Worthy de Jong received two individual main prizes. He was elected Best Defender of the national competition and the 'cross border phase' and was also named Best Player of the Netherlands. The veteran crowned himself one of the best players of the season. The Leiden team has a good chance of winning the playoffs and being crowned BNXT League champions.
