ZZ Leiden loses Stan van den Elzen after four seasons. Van den Elzen played four seasons for ZZ Leiden, after previously playing for Den Bosch and Den Helder.

What happened?

Van den Elzen (26) won two national titles, the cup, and the BNXT League championship with the club. He was out for nine months due to a severe knee injury, but got back to top form during the 2024-2025 season.

Why is this important for ZZ Leiden?

With his ability to shoot from distance and his friendly character, he became one of the favorites of the Leiden fans. According to reports, Van den Elzen will join a Belgian club.

What's next?

Jibbe Sicking also announced that he will leave ZZ Leiden after three seasons. The young forward will move to college basketball in the United States. Other players who will not return are Lucas Kruithof, Roeland Schaftenaar, Nate Robinson, Javian McCollum, and Tyreek Scott-Grayson. ZZ Leiden did sign American center Jonathan Beagle. There is also interest in Dimitri Maconda. If he leaves as well, only Sam Huurman will remain with a contract for next season. Huurman made his debut for the national team against Australia on Tuesday.
